The chairman of the U.S. public company regulatory agency resigned at the request of the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to Mars Finance, Erica Williams, the chair of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), has resigned after the chairman of the SEC, Paul Atkins, requested her to step down. In an email sent to PCAOB staff, Williams stated that her last working day will be July 22. Williams began her tenure as PCAOB chair in January 2022 and was reappointed in June 2024.
