The Bitcoin proposal suggests freezing an equal amount of Bitcoin that is susceptible to quantum attacks by Satoshi Nakamoto.

According to Deep潮 TechFlow news on July 16, as reported by Decrypt, Casa's CTO and co-founder Jameson Lopp proposed a Bitcoin Improvement Proposal on Tuesday aimed at addressing the potential threat that Quantum Computers pose to the Bitcoin network. The proposal was co-authored by six developers and plans to gradually phase out quantum-vulnerable Address types through three stages.

According to a recent study by Deloitte, approximately 25% of Bitcoin is at risk from quantum computing, including an estimated 1 million Bitcoins believed to belong to Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto. Experts are concerned that as quantum computing technology advances, the private keys of these old wallets may be reverse-engineered within the next decade.

The proposal will prohibit sending funds to quantum vulnerable addresses and freeze the Bitcoin of these addresses over a period of five years, while encouraging users to adopt "post-quantum" Bitcoin address types. The proposal author emphasized: "Bitcoin has never faced a survival threat to its cryptographic foundation, and a successful quantum attack would result in significant economic turmoil and damage to the entire ecosystem."
