Circle strategic adjustment, divesting multiple businesses to focus on stablecoin.
According to reports, Circle is considering selling its crowdfunding business SeedInvest. However, industry insiders point out that due to numerous issues with the initial acquisition structure, this deal may face difficulties in finding buyers. This news comes shortly after Circle has been divesting multiple business zones.
Just the day before, Circle announced the sale of its retail trading platform Circle Invest to a Canadian cryptocurrency broker. According to the agreement, approximately 40,000 Circle Invest users will migrate to the new platform by the end of March, while Circle's stablecoin platform services will also be integrated.
Previously, Circle announced on its official blog on December 17, 2019, that it would sell its over-the-counter trading business Circle Trade to another trading platform. The company stated that in 2020, it would shift its focus to the stablecoin business.
Recently, Circle's frequent divestitures have drawn industry attention to its strategic adjustments. The company appears to be gradually shrinking its non-core businesses and concentrating resources on key areas such as stablecoins. This series of measures reflects that the cryptocurrency industry is undergoing profound changes, with companies adjusting their strategies to cope with market fluctuations.
As Circle continues to streamline its business structure, the industry generally believes that the company is accumulating strength for future development. However, whether it can achieve breakthroughs by focusing on its stablecoin business remains to be tested by the market. Against the backdrop of increasingly fierce competition in the cryptocurrency industry, this strategic transformation by Circle will undoubtedly face numerous challenges.
