The White House supports Quintenz as CFTC chairman, and the encryption industry looks forward to new regulatory trends.
[Chain News] PANews, July 31 - According to reports, after confirming a delay in the appointment of Brian Quintenz as the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), speculation arose regarding his candidacy qualifications, prompting the White House to reiterate its support for Trump’s nomination. This matter has attracted attention since the Senate Agriculture Committee unexpectedly canceled the nomination vote for Quintenz on Monday. A majority of the committee members must approve his nomination before the entire Senate can ratify it. At that time, a committee spokesperson stated that the White House requested to postpone the vote. According to informed sources, prior to the vote delay, a cryptocurrency billionaire had urged the White House to halt or delay the confirmation process. However, the White House made it clear on Wednesday that Quintenz remains the top choice for the position in this administration. Spokesperson Liz Huston stated that he would help make the U.S. a crypto assets capital and expressed hopes for his swift confirmation.
After serving as a CFTC commissioner from 2017 to 2021, he has held executive positions in the cryptocurrency division of a venture capital fund and has also been a board member of a prediction market platform company. Quintenz stated that if confirmed, he would resign from both companies.
