OpenSea focuses on three major areas including gaming, and the Vice President clarifies that there are no plans for sale.
OpenSea Vice President: The company is not seeking a sale and is focusing on development in three major areas including gaming.
During a recent interview at the Consensus conference, Kelly Digregorio, Vice President and Head of Content Partnerships at OpenSea, clarified rumors about the company's potential sale. She stated: "Our CEO did not indicate that OpenSea is up for sale. There may have been a miscommunication in that interview, leading to discrepancies between the media's portrayal and the CEO's original intent."
Regarding the development of the NFT market, Kelly Digregorio shared OpenSea's current focus:
Collaborate with game companies, such as Gunzilla Games' project "Off The Grid".
Launch practical NFT projects, such as the Coachella music festival pass NFT series.
Technical upgrades, such as Seaport version 1.6 supporting the enforcement of secondary sale creator fees.
Integrate new blockchains, such as Blast and Sei.
Develop OpenSea 2.0, reconstruct the architecture to accelerate deployment speed.
Kelly Digregorio stated that OpenSea is currently focusing on three areas: gaming, Web3 native domains, and consumer loyalty. She believes that gaming is very important for OpenSea, not only because of the large market size but also because the gaming community has a high level of technical expertise, and NFTs have diverse application scenarios in gaming.
Regarding emerging trends like NFTFi, Kelly Digregorio takes a wait-and-see approach, believing that the final form of its development remains to be observed. She emphasized that the difference between OpenSea and other platforms lies in its greater focus on creator tools, user experience, and security.
Regarding regional markets, Kelly Digregorio stated that different regions have their own characteristics in various verticals of NFTs, such as Japan and South Korea excelling in gaming NFTs, while North America holds an advantage in fields like artistic creation.
Regarding the potential impact of the U.S. election year, Kelly Digregorio believes that cryptocurrency may become a political topic in the election, but the specific effects are still difficult to predict. In terms of regulation, she stated that this is not OpenSea's primary concern; the company is more focused on building a trustworthy trading platform.
